From the beginning, the people of the Christian Church of Arlington Heights have been about reaching out… about caring… about worshipping and serving God through the sharing of spiritual gifts. As we journey forward this new fiscal year presents, for each person connected to our church family, fresh possibilities for ministry.
It was my honor to accept a leadership role as Chair of the Elders for the coming year. Irvana Wilks will continue her leadership, serving as Vice Chair. Together, with the other ten Elders, we will be meeting regularly for meaningful prayer and communication, allowing opportunity for spiritual development and insight to best support our faith family.
The structure of the Elders continues to evolve, with prayerful consideration by all twelve as to how they can best serve. Many of the elders will be performing both “serving” and “shepherding” roles; some will direct their focus to one area or the other. In doing so, there will be more serving at the Table, more to keep in contact with members and friends of the Christian Church, and more to attend to the needs of those who are not able to get to church for worship.
“Visioning” for our church’s future is of primary importance and will now continue to move forward through a dedicated task force. More information will be coming soon.
A vital element in meeting the needs of our church and extended family is communication. I encourage you to contact me, or any of the elders, with your concerns, your celebrations, your input and your guidance. Elders for the coming year are:
Donna Anderson Sally Arends Kay Belt
Gayland Bloethe Kirk Imoto David Kettelhut
Larry Knight Carol Nelson Sophia Ritchey
Jeff Sykuta Irvana Wilks Minna Zelch
Eldership is a role we have not accepted lightly and, I believe, each of us has discovered a special blessing in this opportunity to serve. I would ask your continued prayers as we seek to respond to what God has in store for us.
Faithfully yours,
Donna Anderson
